Astrological Trends for March 7-13

Cross-posted from Aloha Astro

Have you ever watched two young children at play where one child wants the other to do things their way or surrender a toy? The manipulator can be very creative in his attempt to convince the other child to go along with him. Looking at the lunar aspects on Monday, March 7th, brought that image to my mind. The moon in the cardinal fire sign of "me" Aries opposes Saturn in "me and you" Libra until later this afternoon so that you may feel your own emotional needs or desires oppose those of others. It gets a bit more complex, and the manipulation slips in, as the moon forms a semi-sextile to the sun in Pisces, which activates the quincunx between the Pisces sun and Saturn in Libra. Everyone wants things to be their way and they want everyone else to want it their way, too. In fact, they just don't understand why someone might not want it their way! If you stay polite and sweet, you may wheedle your way into changing other people's minds while Mercury in Pisces is being influenced by Uranus, the planet of change, in Pisces. Another influence encouraging sudden decisions and changes of mind is Venus, the planet of affection and pleasure, in independent Aquarius sextile Jupiter, the planet of expansion, in bold Aries, creating energy that says, "I'm game for anything and I'll try anything once, so let's go!" Everything seems more pressing and intense today due to Pluto in Capricorn exchanging energy with several planets. Pluto makes a difficult square to Jupiter in Aries, which creates resistance to new things or objections to rules and established order. Supportive aspects to Pluto are a sextile to Mars in Pisces until this evening and a semi-sextile to Venus in Aquarius. Both of these flowing aspects indicate that no matter what the rules or threatened consequences may be, people are going to follow dreams and impulses anyway. Several romantic energies are present this evening with the moon contra-parallel Neptune, the sun parallel Chiron, and Venus parallel Pluto. Love can be spiritual, romantic, sexually intense, and grounded all at the same time.

Direction is the dominant theme on the morning of Tuesday, March 8th. The moon in a late degree of Aries is sextile Neptune and semi-sextile Mercury conjunct Uranus in Pisces. Together, these two aspects encourage moving forward in the direction of your plans and dreams or launching new endeavors. Follow-through comes naturally as the moon enters the fixed, material-oriented earth sign of Taurus later this afternoon. This could be one of the best days of the week for you to start projects and complete them smoothly and in a timely fashion. Venus contra-parallel the moon this evening can help you enjoy time spent with a partner or more fully appreciate anything that gives you pleasure.

Sensibility, sensitivity, and shock are all possibilities on Wednesday, March 9th, as an interesting blend of lunar aspects looks like a mix of stripes, plaid, and paisley to my astrologer's eye. The moon in plodding Taurus trine Pluto in steady Capricorn is sensible and smoothly-flowing emotional energy that helps you stay on a productive course this morning. The moon square Venus in Aquarius, however, indicates that something can be outside of the expected pattern that shocks you or makes you feel a bit uncomfortable. This doesn't mean it is a negative thing - it could be someone at work suggesting another way to do things or the introduction of new technology in your environment that requires you to learn and adapt. The moon sextile Mars in Pisces and the moon semi-sextile Jupiter in Aries combines imagination with drive. You can really enjoy the creative process now or the feeling of unlimited possibilities that a new beginning or growth brings. The quincunx between the Pisces sun and Libra Saturn fades now. While the quincunx was in effect, you could have felt like every interaction with another person was like walking a tightrope where you had to watch your every step and perhaps you felt you were being watched carefully in return. People in general were watching to see which way the wind was blowing before deciding how to adjust their sails. Later today, a quincunx between the moon in Taurus and Saturn in Libra occurs that helps relationships feel more grounded and secure. If you had any indecision about romantic feelings toward someone, this aspect can show you how you truly feel. Now that Mercury leaves the mutable water sign of Pisces and enters the cardinal fire sign of Aries, thoughts quicken and become more direct, precise, and action-oriented. Later today, Venus parallel Pluto and the moon contra-parallel Pluto can make love feel intense and create a sense of sexual need and desire that must be fulfilled.

Everything seems more beautiful on Thursday, March 10th, as the moon in Venus-ruled Taurus begins the day with a sextile to the inspirational Pisces sun, which heightens all your senses. Maybe last night's passionate energy is partly at work this morning, too, as you notice things look, taste, feel, smell, and sound wonderful. Spring is definitely in the air today! Plan a day centered around nature or any artistic or creative endeavor to get maximum enjoyment from this energy. At dinnertime, as the moon winds down its transit in Taurus, it makes a square to Neptune in Aquarius, which is also conjunct Chiron in Pisces. I think this combination of aspects may be experienced as an unwillingness to return to a harsher reality or an inability to focus clearly and plan ahead. Good thing the day is winding down and, unless you have to work an evening shift, this shouldn't be too much of a challenge. People could be a bit spacey or emotionally unpredictable. Stay calm and don't expect too much of yourself or anyone else tonight and you will be fine. Later this evening, the moon in Taurus sextile Uranus in Pisces encourages an escape of some kind. A glass of wine or cup of tea, or a hot bath and a good book are suggestions. Rest up and indulge in your own personal pleasure tonight, because your relationships could get a bit spicy and squirrely later this week. Action-oriented Mars in dreamy Pisces quincunx enduring Saturn in relationship-minded Libra combined with glib Mercury in initiating Aries makes for a very strange mix, indeed. Love could be blind, but very determined and self-involved. Will you be Pepe Le Pew or Penelope Pussycat, I wonder?

Imagine a blindfolded acrobat walking a tightrope over a pool full of sharks while juggling fire and bricks. You could feel like that acrobat on Friday, March 11th, due to a mixed bag of planetary energy. Most of the energy is challenging as the moon squares Neptune in Aquarius conjunct Chiron in Pisces, making something feel entirely impossible or threatening to your emotional equilibrium and maybe even your entire world as you know it. Uncertainty springs from the moon in Gemini forming a quincunx to Pluto in Capricorn, which could make you feel like Jack climbing a beanstalk to take on the giant. BUT the moon sextile to Mercury in Aries makes you just rash enough to do what you are thinking about. Expanding your boundaries or venturing into new territories can be terrifying but necessary now. Some of the fear of possible danger or difficulties subsides after lunch when the square fades. Later this afternoon, a trine between the moon in Gemini and Venus in Aquarius lightens things considerably. If you made it across your mental tightrope without getting knocked by a brick, burned by fire, or eaten by sharks, you could be flying on an emotional high that only sees the new vistas before you as you busily connect with other people and share your thoughts and ideas. The moon in Gemini sextile Jupiter in Aries is a youthful, playful vibration that further supports making new friends, pursuing adventures, and beginning new projects. Your optimism increases as Jupiter and Mercury now enter a loose conjunction. Those of you with young children may find yourself getting as much enjoyment and encouragement from Dora the Explorer, Bob the Builder, or Blue's Clues as your child does! Can you do it? Yes, you can!

Relationships go social and communicative on Saturday, March 12th, as the moon in chatty Gemini trines Saturn in Libra. Uranus, the planet of genius and change, has left the mutable water sign of Pisces and entered the cardinal fire sign of Aries, joining Mercury in a loose conjunction. Mercury, in turn, loosely joins Jupiter in Aries. At midday, Venus forms a supportive trine with Saturn in Libra. All your relationships, whether they are romantic or otherwise, will get a fresh burst of new thought and new direction. Any relationships that lacked clarity will become better defined and mutually understood. Late this afternoon, the moon in Gemini turns its attention away from Saturn and forms a square to the sun in Pisces, increasing emotional touchiness and the need for people to go off and be by themselves for a bit following a day of excitement and mental stimulation. Pluto's challenging square to Jupiter eases a bit, but now Mercury and Pluto are creating tension with each other. Mercury in Aries supporting Jupiter in Aries and challenging Pluto in Capricorn tells me that where there is a will, there is a way. Mercury will find it and make a lot of noise about how it is going to break rules and tradition. The strong leader energy of Mercury in Aries will easily gather supporters who can help establish new order.

Sunday, March 13th, begins peacefully as the moon in Gemini forms a harmonious trine to Neptune in Aquarius conjunct Chiron in Pisces. Enjoy social activities with friends or family early in the day. Stay flexible to a change in your plans because the moon also squares Uranus in Aries. One person may resist going along with group plans or something disruptive could occur, such as discovering the table reserved in your name for brunch at your favorite restaurant was not reserved after all. Anywhere you display ego, you are likely to get knocked down a peg. At lunchtime, the moon moves into the cardinal water sign of Cancer and people feel less intellectual and witty and more emotional and needy. As the moon progresses in Cancer later today, the trine to Neptune fades and an opposition between the moon and Pluto in Capricorn takes place while Pluto squares Jupiter and Mercury in Aries. By this evening, a square between the Cancer moon and Jupiter conjunct Mercury in Aries completes the cardinal T-square. You've been through this cardinal T-square energy in the past few months several times, but that doesn't make it any easier. Cardinal signs are all bosses in their own particular ways, and three bosses all dictating their own opinion isn't pleasant. With planets in the fire sign of Aries, the air sign of Libra, and the earth sign of Capricorn all in disagreement, the best way for you to handle things is to adopt the finer qualities of each of those signs when you come up against a difficult person or situation today. Be self-contained and self-sufficient like an Aries. Be sensitive and nurturing like a Cancer. Be respectful and try to do the "right" thing like a Capricorn. Tomorrow morning, the T-square will be a memory, but your behavior today will determine how you feel about yourself after the fact.
