Astrological Trends for May 9-15

Cross-posted from Aloha Astro

A stimulating start to the week is promised on Monday, May 9th, as the moon in the fixed fire sign of creative Leo forms a supportive trine to Uranus, the planet of change and genius, in the cardinal fire sign of Aries, encouraging big, bold plans or projects that are innovative, dramatic, or exciting. If you are taking a vacation this week, you are sure to enjoy anything that involves physical action or exploration under this planetary influence. The moon also exchanges a favorable quincunx with Neptune and Chiron in the inspirational sign of Pisces, indicating that you may have a major breakthrough or realize a lifetime goal or dream now. This morning brings the right combination of faith, courage, and openness to change required to manifest something wonderful. Transformation, healing, and dreams are stabilized and rooted in reality thanks to a supportive sextile between Neptune conjunct Chiron in Pisces and Pluto in Capricorn bringing an element of Divine grace and right use of will. Neptune and Chiron are activated even more by Mars, the planet of action, conjunct Jupiter, the planet of growth, in the cardinal fire sign of Aries. You can easily take a leap of faith in any new endeavor or situation where you feel you must take a stand, and you can expect to win or succeed. The planets say, "Go for it!" today. More strength to follow through on plans comes your way later this afternoon, when the Leo moon makes a quincunx to potent Pluto in enduring Capricorn. You may feel this as a deepening of your emotional conviction or a physical "second wind." In the early evening, a yod, or "Hand of God," forms with the Leo moon quincunx both Pluto in Capricorn and Neptune conjunct Chiron in Pisces that feels like a crowning or ordination to me. Success, accompanied by a feeling of "This is how it was meant to be," is a strong potential if you have used the dynamic energy gifted to you by the planets today. Later this evening, the yod fades, but the Leo moon now forms a sextile to stabilizing Saturn in diplomatic Libra. On some level, you have written a new law or personal ordinance into being. On the emotional level, you have completed something or achieved a level of success that has brought you to a new maturity and inner wisdom.

The royal crowning energy of Monday's Leo moon spills over into Tuesday, May 10th. The moon is still in the fixed fire sign of Leo on Tuesday morning, but makes no major aspects until the afternoon. The moon is contra-parallel Neptune, and the sun is contra-parallel Pluto, though, indicating that some potent impressionable, dramatic energy is present today. Personal presence matters more than action now. Sit like a queen or a king on a throne and radiate the new state of being you achieved yesterday. Don't do, just be. A test of your new inner strength may come around lunchtime, when the Leo moon forms a challenging square to the sun in Taurus. At the very core of this square, the humble Taurus sun is telling you that you are just one of the herd and you should work quietly alongside everyone else. The Leo moon is creative, dramatic, and craves personal attention and recognition when it performs. Pride versus humility - you may have a lesson in one or the other, or both. A favorable flowing trine forms early this evening between the moon in Leo and Venus, the planet of pleasure and affection, conjunct Mercury, the planet of communication. Agreeable, stimulating conversation combines with an ardent pursuit of play. Pursuing a new romantic interest or competing in sports or games that test your physical or mental skills can be a great stress release.

On Wednesday, May 11th, Mars, the planet of action, leaves the cardinal fire sign of Aries and enters the fixed earth sign of Taurus. I see the energy of Mars in Taurus as the hot sun baking mud into adobe brick or a kiln firing clay into useful pottery. Check your own natal chart to see what house holds Taurus energy. That will be the area of your life where you can direct the energy of Mars in Taurus to make something useful and enduring. The entry of Mars into Taurus gets a dramatic, creative boost from a trine to the moon in the last degrees of Leo. The moon also opposes Neptune in Pisces this morning, which may increase the chances for arguments or hurt feelings. Tempers can easily be upset on the day when Mars shifts signs, and this opposition can bring out the worst Leo and Pisces qualities when people let their emotions get carried away. Some drama and tears is possible. I know it may be difficult to not take things personally today, but if you have to assert yourself or criticize anyone, try to be kind and gentle. Tempers cool a bit at lunchtime, when the moon enters the mutable earth sign of Virgo and forms a quincunx to Uranus in Aries. You, and everyone else, may suddenly shift from emotional drama to cool, detached logic, making you wonder, "How can people change so quickly?" Planetary transits, that's how. Maybe the fresh Virgo moon senses the inherent potential in the workaholic Taurus Mars and would rather make plans than drama. The opposition between the Virgo moon and Neptune conjunct Chiron in Pisces late this afternoon directs your attention to lack, which isn't always a bad thing. The methodical, discerning Virgo moon examines dreams and fanciful imaginings to determine what can or can't be done or had, and then pursues the means. What do you really want or need and how can you get it? When the moon in Virgo trines Pluto in success-oriented Capricorn later today, you should have a workable plan in place. This is also an excellent elimination aspect. If you want to do an intestinal cleanse or clean closets, begin now. The trine between the Virgo moon and Pluto in Capricorn activates the sextile between Pluto and Neptune conjunct Chiron in Pisces. Diet, nutrition, exercise, and health habits are under Virgo's rule. With the extra support from Pluto, Neptune, and Chiron, you can make favorable changes to your health and longevity potential through awareness, attention, and a commitment to making new health choices become good habits for life.

Weighing the merits of new and old is possible on Thursday, May 12th, when the moon parallel Uranus and contra-parallel Saturn causes you to swing between the feeling of security established order brings versus the sense of freedom new opportunities bring. The mutable Virgo moon may not be able to make clear choices just yet. Hold off on decisions or judgments until early evening, when a supportive trine forms between the moon in Virgo and the sun in the fixed earth sign of Taurus. The steadiness of the Taurus sun will help you know what you really feel. The moon is just a bit too analytical in Mercury-ruled Virgo, even though it is an earth sign. The sun/moon trine will help you move out of your head and into your heart, and when you make a heart-based decision, you can never be wrong.

Are you superstitious about Friday, May 13th? Today may actually be a lucky Friday the 13th for you because the morning begins with a favorable yod configuration. The Virgo moon forms a quincunx to Mars in Taurus conjunct Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter in Aries and another quincunx to Neptune conjunct Chiron in Pisces. The chorus from a Rolling Stones song jumped into my head as soon as I saw this pattern, "You can't always get what you want, but if you try, sometimes, you just might find you get what you need." Now, I will go out on a limb with a prediction for today. Later this afternoon, when the moon enters Libra, it maintains the energy of the yod, but adds an opposition to Uranus, the planet of change, to the mix. An unexpected change may occur now in your personal life that could involve a healing of a relationship, a surprise marriage proposal, or meeting a life-mate for the first time. On a global level, I feel this is a significant aspect, as well. A championing of rights, delivering of justice, or declaration of war or peace are all potentials within this aspect pattern. I can't tell exactly what will come to pass today on the personal or global level, but the word I hear is "pivotal." Last week's new moon in Taurus presented a chart that had a very unique pattern when I included asteroids. I do not add asteroids to my weekly horoscopes and trends because I am still in the learning and observation level of understanding and I do not feel I am fully qualified to teach about them yet. As of this new moon, the pattern I saw translated into an intuitive feeling that two energy worlds or dimensions are very close and mirroring. Today's aspect patterns, minus asteroids, seem to be an echo of that mirroring of worlds. In fact, I feel like there is now an alignment of dimensions or an energetic overlay. I'll be checking my own e-mail to see what various channelers and energy-sensitive intuitives I subscribe to have to say about planetary shifts this week. As the day progresses, the moon in Libra joins Saturn, turning moods sober and encouraging the following of proper etiquette in all exchanges. The moon and Saturn in Libra form a challenging square to Pluto in Capricorn. Corruption, prejudices, or inequalities will not be tolerated. A semi-sextile between the sun in Taurus and Jupiter in Aries reinforces a desire for a better way. You may feel that it is time for you to "get real," lose your denials or judgments, and make a constructive change in your life. Instead of waiting for the right time, you will do your best to make things right, right where you are now.

Saturday, May 14th, begins with the moon in the cardinal air sign of Libra conjunct Saturn, the planet of duty, responsibility, and restriction. When you wake this morning, you may already have an itinerary to follow, even though it is a weekend. The Libra moon does favor romance and relationships, but while it is under the cooling influence of Saturn, your romance may be on the intellectual level rather than full of physical passion. You are more likely to be looking at the pros and cons of relationship, or thinking about the commitment aspect more than coziness and cuddling. No major lunar aspects are made until late this evening, so the day is best for taking care of established things rather than beginning new projects. Libra rules flowers and beauty, and Saturn rules work, making this a good day to beautify yourself, your garden, or your home. By bedtime, the Libra moon is far enough away from the weight of Saturn to turn flirtatious. It also forms a quincunx to the warm sun in sensual Taurus, making the late evening perfect for wining, dining, and romancing.

Get ready for an emotional rollercoaster ride on Sunday, May 15th. The morning begins with the moon in the cardinal air sign of relationship-minded Libra making a wonderful trine to dreamy Neptune in Pisces. But the moon is also actively challenged by an opposition to Venus, Mars, and Jupiter, all conjunct in Aries. Venus, Mars, and Jupiter are all sextile to Neptune in Pisces. You may be falling in love or feeling swept up in some new direction in life, but feeling doubt and trepidation. Rollercoasters are scary and exciting at the same time, and that is what the planets are offering now - a tantalizing thrill and an overstimulation of all your senses. Some more unsettled feelings are possible when the moon enters the deeply sensitive fixed water sign of Scorpio this afternoon, where it forms a quincunx to Uranus in Aries. A situation or feeling unlike anything you have ever experienced before is possible. As the day progresses, Mercury and Venus both leave the cardinal fire sign of Aries, where they have been for some time, and join Mars in the fixed earth sign of Taurus. I hear Carole King singing, "I feel the earth move under my feet..." when I look at the shocking emotional energy of the moon/Uranus quincunx and the shifting of Mercury and Venus from fire to the earth element. The trine between the Scorpio moon and Neptune in Pisces is your calm in the center of the hurricane that the rest of today's planetary aspects bring. Don't be afraid to express your innermost feelings and use your intuition for guidance.
