Astrological Trends for February 7-13

Cross-posted from Aloha Astro

Monday, February 7th, could feel like a typical "I hate Mondays" day as the moon in hotheaded Aries squares Venus conjunct Pluto in rigid Capricorn. Strong feelings of irritation and impatience mixed in with some selfishness that could show up as a me-first attitude are to be expected with this challenging aspect. Knowing this may be the case, you can make a concentrated effort to be courteous and kind. Instead of reacting to negativity with more negativity, give people a smile. After all, you know it's just a passing aspect making them ornery now. Through the entire week, pleasure-seeking Venus and controlling Pluto conjunct in restrictive Capricorn are also square to expansive Jupiter in me-oriented Aries. You may experience this longer-term aspect as people telling you what to do or how to do it. They may think they are helping you for your own good or are interfering with your life because of their love and concern, but you could feel controlled, resentful, or rebellious. It is just as likely that you are dishing out the same treatment to others. Last week's new moon brought changes to people's lives. When we change, other people we relate with must adjust to those changes. This week, the overall tone of Venus/Pluto square Jupiter is one of fear - fear of letting someone go or grow. You may be reluctant to plunge fully into your own new moon changes. "Better the Devil you know than the Devil you don't," aptly sums up this aspect. Rational thought, however, presides as Mercury in logical Aquarius is sextile both the moon and Jupiter in Aries. Mercury is also semi-sextile Venus conjunct Pluto in Capricorn. You are able to remain detached when necessary and use mind over matter to solve problems. The sun and Mars are conjunct in Aquarius and involved in a supportive trine to Saturn in Libra through Thursday. The sun and Mars give you get up and go in a big way and Saturn adds stability. These planets are all in the air element and encourage communication and cooperation between individuals and groups. If you have projects that require reading, writing, recording, or contacting people, this week is a perfect time to work on them. Later this afternoon, the moon in Aries moves out of the square aspect to Venus, which may have caused some emotional friction for you. Everyone settles down peacefully at the end of the day.

On the morning of Tuesday, February 8th, the moon in the cardinal fire sign of Aries forms a square to Saturn in the cardinal air sign of Libra, but at the same time lends support to the sun conjunct Mars in the fixed air sign of Aquarius with a gentle sextile flow of energy. I see this square as being ultimately positive because of the Saturn/sun/Mars trine and the moon/Mars/Saturn sextile that it bridges. It can be used like an anchoring or leveraging tool to make things happen. Do not be afraid to push or force an issue. Something may have to give, but that could be the goal you have in mind, anyway. During the afternoon, the lunar square dissipates and a dreamy kind of contentment is ushered in with the moon contra-parallel Neptune. The moon also exchanges a pleasant semi-sextile to Neptune in Aquarius, making people tolerant of each other and forgiving of any slights or abrasiveness the Aries "in your face" energy may have caused. Chiron leaves Aquarius and enters Pisces now. Certain aspects of planetary or personal healing, which have been abstract ideas, may begin to manifest on the material plane out of necessity. Aquarius can be high-minded, but detached and distanced from a situation. Pisces is moved to action through empathy and compassion. We will have to watch world events over time to see how consciousness shifts along with Chiron's move to a new sign.

Last week, new tracks were laid down with the new moon and the shifting signs of Venus and Mercury. This week, Aries points the way along the track at the beginning of the week and now a Taurus moon helps to dig the grooves of the track more deeply. Your work will be satisfying on Wednesday, February 9th, as the moon in practical Taurus is supported by a sextile to inspiring Neptune conjunct Chiron. Passion meets purpose later this afternoon when the moon in Taurus makes a pleasant trine to affectionate Venus conjunct intensifying Pluto in Capricorn. You can direct this energy toward work or toward intimacy - either area will benefit from the blessings of strong and ardent attention. Later this evening, the moon in Taurus forms a challenging square to Mercury in Aquarius. Both signs are fixed, meaning stubborn and persistent, in nature. This may interfere with sleep as your mind is activated with thoughts of things you have to do or you find you have a conflict between your logical mind and your more sensitive emotions. Before you go to sleep, you can ask your mind to give you insights while you dream.

The moon in Taurus square to Mercury in Aquarius is still reverberating a bit on the morning of Thursday, February 10th. Review your dreams from last night to see if any solutions or relevant symbols arose during sleep. Venus and Pluto conjunct in earthy Capricorn square to Jupiter in fiery Aries will be strongly felt this morning because of the tone of the materially-minded moon being prodded by an analytical Mercury. Many people will be more critical of the government, politicians, corporate greed, and excess waste represented by Venus/Pluto in Capricorn, while Jupiter in Aries, which represents the individual trying to stay hopeful and striving to get ahead, could feel fooled and taken advantage of, as the square suggests. The Taurus moon is very task oriented and there may be a feeling today of having to work hard without seeing a proportionate personal gain. Disgruntled feelings subside a bit around lunchtime when the moon in Taurus exchanges a quincunx with Saturn in Libra, making you wonder if things aren't actually as dire as they seem. You are willing to give people the benefit of the doubt and continue putting forth your best efforts. In the early evening, the moon in Taurus squares action-oriented Mars conjunct the sun in Aquarius. If you had been planning on a relaxing evening, these planets may have something else in mind. You could be busy with a group activity or catching up on chores or errands to clear some room on your schedule for weekend activities.

The end of the work week on Friday, February 11th, begins under a late-degree Taurus moon sextile Uranus in Pisces. You've had just about enough of the plodding work mentality of the Taurus moon and this happy aspect between the moon and Uranus is like the light at the end of the tunnel. Even if you didn't begin the week with a bad Monday attitude, you will end the week in a TGIF frame of mind. The moon is also square to Neptune in Aquarius early today, so pay careful attention as you put the finishing touches on any work projects. Uranus may have you projecting yourself too far ahead and Neptune can be a planet of confusion or illusion. Remember the carpenter's suggestion to measure twice and cut once. You wouldn't want to have to redo something because you made an error while you were impatient or distracted. The moon moves into the mutable air sign of Gemini in the early evening where it forms a supportive sextile to Jupiter in Aries, but squares Chiron in Pisces conjunct Neptune in Aquarius. Friends may be calling with plans to go out and have some fun, but you need to recharge your batteries a bit before you join them. A power nap and hot shower help you overcome the stress of the square aspect, so you have plenty of energy to party. It's hard to say no to the bubbling enthusiasm of a Gemini moon when Jupiter in Aries is shouting, "Let's go!"

You will be playing, flirting, or socializing with a purpose on Saturday, February 12th, when the moon in Gemini forms a quincunx to Venus conjunct Pluto in Capricorn. A super-smart trine between Mercury in Aquarius and Saturn in Libra arrives around lunchtime and lingers until the 15th. Early this afternoon, the moon trines Mercury in Aquarius. As the quincunx fades this evening, a trine between the moon in Gemini and Saturn in Libra forms the final leg of a beautiful air Grand Trine involving the moon, Mercury, and Saturn. The air element supports thought, plans, travel, and communication. The combination of moon, Mercury, and Saturn indicates you know what you feel and that your emotions and thoughts are in complete harmony with each other. Saturn strengthens your confidence and convictions and helps you commit to plans. All the signs will feel good today, but the air signs of Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius will have an especially golden day.

There will be no sleeping in on Sunday, February 13th, when the morning dawns with the moon in Gemini being energized by a trine to Mars and the sun in Aquarius. So much to see and do, and so little time! As the moon moves further into Aquarius this evening, it trines Neptune in Aquarius next while squaring Uranus in Pisces. The earlier enthusiasm of the day may be blown up out of proportion now and some projects or plans may have to be modified or cut short. No one ever wants the party to end when they are having a good time. The aspects this evening tell the story of a fun weekend coming to a close along with the reluctance to return to present day reality. It was a great escape, though, wasn't it? Venus is now releasing her stranglehold on Pluto as the Venus/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn begins to widen out of its orb of influence. Obsessions or the desire to control will subside and soon be forgotten. Love will still be subdued and serious as Venus transits the earth sign of Capricorn, but much less heavy or intense. Several planets are now lining up together in the inventive fixed air sign of Aquarius: Mercury, Mars, sun, and Neptune. The Gemini moon today tickles them all with the airy feather of imagination and new ideas. Maybe you are not as reluctant to get back to the real world after all - not when you have so much mental genius giving you dozens of good reasons to look ahead.
