"Why Shamanism Now?" with Christina Pratt

Authentic Shamanism

What makes shamanism authentic? Tradition? Certification? Or direct access to Spirit? Join host and shaman, Christina Pratt, as she explores authenticity and ethics is shamanism. Today literally thousands of people all over the world have learned to journey. This is a good thing. It is important that adults have spiritual input into their challenging daily decisions. With all of these people journeying, what makes someone a shaman? With people participating in monthly journeying circles a type of "social shamanism" has emerged where people gather around this common interest, journey together, do a little ceremony, and share their experiences. While this is a valuable activity it barely taps the potential of authentic shamanism. Yet people see this as contemporary shamanism. Where do the ethics lie for teachers of shamanism in showing people the range from their personal journeys to shamanic healing to powerful community rituals and ceremonies guided by truly initiated shamans?

New Moon

Today the new moon energy is particularly strong. Some of us may have been experiencing extreme dreams over the last few days as the new moon in Pisces was approaching. With sun, moon, Mercury, and Uranus conjunct in Pisces and all quincunx to Vesta, our attention is directed toward hearth and home, as represented by Vesta. Vesta may also represent Gaia, our shared home. Sun, moon, and Mercury are also trine to Pallas, which rules logic. In our individual lives, as well as collectively, this may be a time for initiating positive and practical change. There is a fullness, ripeness, and readiness to the current planetary energy. The image I see is a flower bud about to open. Pisces energy when it expresses its highest vibration is compassionate and spiritual. Vesta sits in the creative and fixed fire energy of Leo. Pallas is now placed in the water fixed sign of Scorpio.

Perhaps higher thought and ideals will bring about a real change now in how our world makes things happen and current blocks to initiative and implementation will be removed via a dissolving of previous harmful or illogical restrictions.

New WINGS Update from Karen Bishop

Empty Shells

As many of us have been feeling, there is a chain reaction of earthquakes at hand. A restructuring must take place within the earth in order to hold the new reality and new world. The Chile earthquake, and the subsequent quakes in that area, moved the energies, and we could feel this in different ways. We may have felt unusually busy for no apparent reason after such a long period of stillness. We may have found ourselves completing things as if preparing, or perhaps just getting things in order to sustain ourselves for a while. We may have felt the energies supporting us in hunkering down or in creating a good space to be in. We may have felt ourselves moving into a new energetic space with no apparent definition. And we may have felt yet another new sense of grounding, connectedness, and new power within ourselves.

As the earth makes these step-by-step changes within her structure, we then have more to connect to, and thus, may feel more ourselves, more at ease, more at home, and more peaceful and joyful as we connect more fully to the new earth. Our manifesting abilities may increase as well. With each subsequent earth change or alignment, we will continue to feel more empowered and more connected.

These earthquakes, or restructuring events, occur at specific intervals. They occur, we align along with the earth, we adjust and settle, and when this process is complete for each event, we then experience the next one. We will not experience a new earth change until the prior one has completed what it came to create.

Mr. Deity and Catholicism

Crossposted from Reflections Journal.

Some of the funniest lines in Mr. Deity are the throw-aways. In this episode it's Timmy from R&D exclaiming "Oh, Dagon!" I'm not sure whether he's invoking the ancient Semitic god:

Wonderland – Illusion and Reality

This past weekend, my family and I went to see “Alice in Wonderland” at the theater. Folks, you definitely will want to catch this on the big screen, rather than waiting for the video or passing it by, thinking it is just for kids.

I thoroughly got caught up in the fantasy of Wonderland, thanks to incredible atmospheric visuals and special effects and the acting skills of a shining cast of stars. When Alice prepares to drink the Jabberwocky blood that will bring her back home to her London life, I wanted her to stay in Wonderland, where the illusions are so much more real than the reality of her flat and insincere life in London. But while in Wonderland, Alice goes within to re-awaken her true self and she brings that true self back upon her return – and chooses what is best for Alice.

There are many metaphysical threads woven through this film that may be barely noticed due to the almost overwhelming and richly stimulating visual content. I found myself mesmerized by the eyes of every character – something I cannot recall experiencing with any other film I’ve ever seen. In “Alice in Wonderland”, the eyes have it, and I will be watching this a few more times to look longer and deeper into those eyes. For many, this film is just simply fine entertainment the whole family can enjoy, and that is fine, too. Truth is a seed that, once planted, can take its time germinating.

Of William Henry, the Capitol Dome, Stargates, and Battlestar Galactica

Crossposted from Reflections Journal.

Posted below is a fairly recent interview with William Henry. For the discussion of the Capitol dome and stargate metaphysics, skip ahead to video 7. The first six are more focused on the Norway spiral and a somewhat paranoid read on the climate conference. I've discussed Henry's analysis of the Capitol dome and Brumidi's fresco previously here and here. Now that I'm back in the DC area, I'm determined to fight my way up I95 to visit the Capitol and see this for myself. Maybe I'll take the train. Time is a precious commodity.

In this interview Henry also points out that stargate images are turning up in art and sculpture all over the place and suggests that we could be having a collective awakening. I totally agree. But it was when I looked at the image of the dome above, that it clicked for me just how powerful a trigger that image is.

"Why Shamanism Now?" with Christina Pratt

Is Shamanism a Path to Enlightenment?

"The shamanic path is not a path traditionally intended to achieve enlightenment," explains Michael Harner of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. "It has been a path followed because people...wanted to help (others) through healing and alleviating their suffering. In following that path, gifts were then given them that were totally unexpected...This then changes them, and they are never the same again; they are indeed enlightened. But that was not the intention; it was just a result." Shamanism is and isn't a path of transformation and enlightenment. Host and shaman, Christina Pratt, explores this interesting state of affairs. Shamanic trance states are task oriented. They are not focused on gaining enlightenment. However, an ongoing working relationship with Spirit is one of the most efficient and effective paths of transformation, waking up, and growing up for shamans and for lay people. Join us and discover all the side benefits, like enlightenment, of becoming a spiritual adult.

James Arthur Ray: Tweeting Through the Darkness

Crossposted from Reflections Journal.

In an earlier post, I made reference to James Arthur Ray's "thoroughly nonsensical defense of The Secret's blame the victim idiocy, in light of things like 9/11 and the Holocaust." Allow me to elucidate. Here is the quote from ABC News:

In that interview, Ray defended "The Secret" against critics who asked if the victims of 9/11 or the Holocaust are to blame for simply thinking incorrectly.

"I know people of the Jewish faith and heritage who don't necessarily believe the Holocaust was bad," Ray said. "Now that might be shocking to you but I have people on record who have said, hey there's a lot of good things that came out of that, a lot of lessons, a lot of opportunities for the world. "

I don't personally know any Jews -- or anyone else really -- who would characterize the Holocaust as not "bad," so I really wonder who he's been talking to. But that's almost beside the point. Ray's answer dodges the question. One could certainly argue that every dark cloud has a silver lining and that the Holocaust did provide certain opportunities for growth, learning, and social advancement. But that has nothing to do with whether or not victims of horrendous adversity bring it on themselves with their "thoughts."

"Why Shamanism Now?" with Christina Pratt

True Transformation vs. Remodeling the Self

What does "transformation" really mean and why should we bother? "In the simplest sense true transformation is an internal change," explains host and shaman, Christina Pratt, "that occurs on a foundational level such that there is no going back. We are not just remodeling the self." There are three dynamics of internal movement, that when taken together result in true transformation. Change in any one or two of these; however, leaves us, as Ken Wilbur says, "refining our status quo." Why should you bother to transform anyway? A refined status quo is still status quo and will result in a new version of exactly the same life. We choose to truly transform because it is the only path to why we are here. We are all an expressions of the One, but the One shows up uniquely in every sentient being. That uniqueness-to find and express that unique manifestation of the One-is why you are here. All true transformation matters because it serves the full expression of your Unique Self.

Satanic Panic and the WM3

Crossposted from Reflections Journal.

I've been watching some of the extra footage from Saturday's 48 Hours Mystery episode, covered in full here. This interview with former FBI Behavioral Science Unit investigator Ken Lanning is really worth a look. As is fairly common knowledge now, the 80s media obsession with Satanic cults turned out to be much ado about nothing. Lanning investigated allegations of incidents and ultimately found no evidence of this practice occurring anywhere in the country. And absolutely no evidence of any Satanic ritual was ever found in connection to the Robin Hood Hill murders. Satanic ritual murder was the conclusion reached in West Memphis not because of any ceremonial objects or altars -- there were none -- but because of the gruesomeness of the crime. It was a way people could make sense of the inexplicable murder of innocent children. Then they focused on the person most likely to be a Satanist; the boy who dressed in black, listened to Metallica, and was, well, a little unusual.

New WINGS Update from Karen Bishop

Preparing for the Cosmic Tsunami

More excitement is on the way. There is a restructuring of the cosmos about to occur. Just as the earth moved into a new space in the cosmos a few months ago, it is now time for other celestial bodies to move into very new energetic spaces as well. Thus, there will be a restructuring of the cosmos. This enormous mass movement will create a massive wave of energy, or rather, a cosmic tsunami. This massive wave of energy, or wave of light, will then wash over the earth. Being that we are now in much higher vibrating energy than we were only a few months ago, the wave then, will be comprised of higher vibrating energy, or light… and this light will then envelope all of the cosmos.

The Haiti earthquake signaled a massive heart opening for the planet. It was the precursor for the energy of the new earth… the heart energy. In this way, it jump-started the creation of our new reality. The massive earthquake that occurred in Chile yesterday was for very different reasons. And it will not be the last earth movement on the planet, as there will be more.

The Chile earthquake was a precursor for the wave of light. This earthquake and others are preparing the palette for the wave of light to enter. The earth is formulating a new “bed,” or restructuring itself so that she can better receive the new light that is soon to arrive.
