Earthquakes, earthquakes everywhere, strange and unpredictable weather patterns, unusual moods and behaviors for many individuals, and a strange emptiness are but a few of the climates that these massive energy movements are creating.
The cosmic tsunami of new and higher vibrating energy is arriving more steadily now, while at the same time, the earth is moving and adjusting as well, as she prepares herself to more fully accommodate these new energies of our very new space.
The earth moved into a new space in the cosmos within the past few months, is adjusting and aligning, and we are doing very much the same. Beginning with a substantial earthquake here and there, and progressing into many earthquakes all over the globe at the same time, we are really beginning to feel these movements now. Volcanic eruptions, climate changes, and a continual shaking beneath our feet have become the norm for now, or so it seems. It is no wonder so many of us feel a strange shakiness, unease, and overall sense of change.

"Why Shamanism Now?" with Christina Pratt
Tom Cowan and Shamanism Without Borders
Tom Cowan, a shamanic practitioner of Celtic visionary and healing techniques, joins us this week to discuss "Self in Service," the Society of Shamanic Practitioners 7th annual conference. Tom is a much loved teacher and an internationally respected author, lecturer, and tour leader. He is also a founding board member of the SSP. This year's conference is the first exploration as a community into of one aspect of the SSP's mission: learning to practice shamanism without borders and to respond to the voices of the wounded within the Land. These will be intense days of experiential shamanism. This year the conference format is radically changed to allow for large and small groups to focus healing responses to places and beings that have suffered traumatic experiences. This new structure is designed so that all the steps involved in responding to trauma from natural disasters are activities attendees shall undertake and do together, including learning how to tend and grow themselves. Fundamental to Shamanism Without Borders is the belief that as people practicing this medicine, it is incumbent to learn what the disasters teach us individually while protecting ourselves from being part of the disaster.

Tom Cowan
Tom Cowan is a deeply loved teacher and an internationally respected, author, lecturer, and tour leader. As a shamanic practitioner Tom specializes in Celtic visionary and healing techniques, while core shamanism continues to be Tom's primary spiritual practice. In his teachings Tom combines traditional European spirit lore with universal core shamanism to create spiritual practices that can heal and enrich one's own life and the lives of others. He is the author of many books, in particular one of the best books written on shamanism as a daily practice, Shamanism as a Spiritual Practice for Daily Life.
Tom's lifelong interest in mystical traditions led him to develop excellent tours to Ireland or Scotland to practice shamanism at sacred sites and work with the spirits of the land. Tom is also a minister in the Circle of the Sacred Earth, a church of animism dedicated to shamanic principles and practices. Today he lives in New York's Hudson River Valley where he offers training workshops, spiritual retreats, and healing sessions for groups and individuals
