Astrological Trends for February 21-27

Cross-posted from Aloha Astro

A completion or decision in matters of love may be reached on Monday, February 21st, when the moon in relationship-minded Libra joins Saturn, the planet of duty, responsibility, and restriction. Together, they form an emotionally sobering square to Venus in Capricorn. Any kind of relationship can be affected by this energy, including parent/child, boss/employee, business partner, and sibling relationships. This aspect encourages tough love or can make you decide to do what you know must be done in the name of love. The square between Jupiter in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn, which reminds me of a young buck challenging the herd leader, is still creating some delay or complication when it comes to implementing new plans that must receive approval from authority figures, the government, or established institutions. If you are thinking of applying for grants or permits, or considering formalizing a new business or restructuring a business, you could have a rougher time of things than if you just wait until March 15th when this problematic square dissolves. If you fear the IRS and are worried about an audit, then definitely wait this aspect out. Early this evening, the square between Venus and Saturn fades and you may notice this as a lightening in your body in the chest or your back between the shoulder blades. You've been carrying the weight of that aspect in your heart chakra and now you can release it and breathe some springtime lightness into your heart. Mercury and Mars are both parallel to Neptune this evening, making it a nice time to connect with your lover or enjoy a romantic book or movie. Ambient music and subdued lighting can restore your mental and emotional equilibrium. You don't need a partner or a special occasion to light some candles and play your favorite mood music. Mercury leaves the logical air sign of Aquarius and enters the inspirational water sign of Pisces, making your thought process less intellectual and more intuitive. Instances of telepathic communication or psychic impressions picked up from objects, people, or places may increase as this week unfolds due to the combination of planets joining Mercury now.

Lovely trines make for an optimistic beginning on Tuesday, February 22nd. The moon in the emotionally deep water sign of Scorpio exchanges a harmonious flow of energy with Chiron, Mercury, and the sun in the spiritually sensitive water sign of Pisces. Suddenly, everything is profound, or has a hidden message or higher purpose. Strong flowing water vibrations like this help with healing and creative activities. Because of the specific planets involved, it is an ideal time to express your emotions verbally or seek spiritual, mental, or emotional guidance. Begin your day with a prayer, statement of intentions, or meditation to make the most of this planetary support. Mars and Neptune, while still in the intellectual air sign of Aquarius, are actually closely conjunct Chiron, Mercury, and the sun in Pisces, encouraging you to take some kind of inspired action that points you in the direction of healing or opening to your highest potential as a spiritual being. An interesting pattern develops at lunchtime that makes me grin when I look at it because it just smacks of an uppity attitude that can get away with things. The moon in Scorpio forms a quincunx to expansive Jupiter in decisive Aries and the moon also forms a supportive sextile to controlling Pluto in rigid Capricorn. Now is the time to stand up to a bully or face a big task that you have felt too inexperienced to take on alone. This is an, "Oh, yeah? Well, I'll show you!" opportunity. The moon in Scorpio making a trine to the sun in Pisces tells me you can pull off the impossible or make a miracle happen today through willpower, tenacity, and faith.

Wednesday, February 23rd, begins with an energy of fierce certainty and a focus on the facts and details. Little points matter now as the moon in Scorpio is semi-sextile the critical air sign of Libra. The sun conjunct Mercury in Pisces is sextile to Pluto in Capricorn. Although sextiles and semi-sextiles are not major aspects, the signs and planets involved indicate that anything you have been undecided on or any plans that are fragmented can be brought to a standing attention for you to concentrate on exclusively until you are satisfied with the end result. Late in the afternoon, the moon in Scorpio kisses Venus in Capricorn with a sextile and you may be thinking of kissing, too. Sex can be therapeutic and grounding now. The sun/Mercury/Pluto sextile mentioned previously helps you and your lover tune in to each other and enjoy demonstrating prowess and mastery of techniques. If you are single, this can be a good time to go after love with a determined strategy. You can easily seduce or be seduced now. The planet Mars leaves the fixed air sign of Aquarius and moves into the mutable water sign of Pisces. I think societal unrest and social activism will begin to subside in the world now that Mars is changing its role from renegade to pacifist.

"Too big for your britches," and, "Putting the cart before the horse," are what the aspects are saying the morning of Thursday, February 24th. The moon in the optimistic fire sign of Sagittarius trines its ruling planet, jovial Jupiter, in headstrong Aries. You are eager to get going and make things happen. But a square between the moon and Mercury conjunct the sun in mutable, vague Pisces makes you unsure of where you should go and what you should do. Another possible scenario is that your quest begins to resemble a mythological story full of impossible tasks for the hero to accomplish. The hero or heroine is you. You may not know the how of things, but a semi-sextile between the moon in Sagittarius and Pluto in Capricorn, which activates the Pluto/Mercury/sun sextile, makes you believe you are up to the task and worthy of the prize - even if you're not sure what that is! At midday, Mars and Chiron step in with more square energy to the moon, amping up the challenge. The positive side of this challenge is that a Sagittarius moon takes a wicked kind of delight when the gauntlet is thrown down or someone says, "That's impossible!" Take the time to have lunch and rehydrate before jumping back into work or play and watch your temper. There is a physical component to these aspects that can drain your vitality or make you prone to minor accidents if you get distracted, irritated, or too tired. If you happen to be an athlete, you can break your own personal records today if you nurture your body before you push yourself to levels you didn't believe you could reach.

You could be feeling older than your age, but proud of your achievements on Friday, February 25th, if Thursday's activities were physical. You could also be gleaning the golden nuggets of wisdom from yesterday's events, too, as the morning dawns with the moon in Sagittarius sextile to Saturn in Libra. No other major aspects occur today that haven't already been in place this week. The stability of Saturn helps to calm a rambunctious moon, creating a nice mix of optimistic youth meets wise and mature elder energy. This is a good time to plan or attend activities that require the blending of people of diverse ages, backgrounds, or ideologies because the planets are setting a tone of goodwill, reason, respect, humor, acceptance, tolerance, and fairness.

Crazy dreams could segue to a crazy morning on Saturday, February 26th. The moon in the late degrees of Sagittarius forms a sextile to Neptune in Aquarius and also squares Uranus in Pisces. The energy of Neptune in Aquarius and the energy of Uranus in Pisces is very similar, since they are swapping each other's rulers right now. The simplest symbols I can find for this morning's pattern are fog meets lightning, but there are just too many odd possibilities of what may occur with this blending that I can't even be predictive. Keep your eyes open for ghosts or angelic visitations! Maybe a wish will be granted that changes your life suddenly, but brings its own set of challenges. In the early afternoon, the moon moves into the pragmatic earth sign of Capricorn where it joins Pluto, intensifying emotions, seriousness, and willpower. Together, they exchange difficult squares with both Uranus in Pisces and Jupiter in Aries for the remainder of the day. You could feel driven to initiate something or change something with this "now or never" energy. A sextile that forms between Venus in Capricorn and Uranus in Pisces indicates it is a welcome change. A semi-sextile between Venus in Capricorn and Neptune in Aquarius makes me think that the change could be in your love life. The moon/Pluto conjunction exchanges supportive energy with Chiron, Mars, Mercury, and the sun in Pisces, increasing the chances that romance or the pursuit of a dream is the theme. Perhaps you will meet your life mate today or decide to take your present relationship to another level. If you are ready to leave a relationship, this could also be the time that you make your claim of independence.

The moon and Pluto are still together in Capricorn on the morning of Sunday, February 27th. In fact, nothing appears to be different between this morning and last night when it comes to planetary aspects, except for the absence of the moon/Pluto/Uranus square, indicating the shock of something sudden has subsided or the new change is being integrated now. As the afternoon progresses, the moon moves away from Pluto and you will feel your emotions get lighter as the day goes on. The moon also exchanges a pleasant sextile aspect with Mercury in Pisces, enabling you to examine your feelings and sort them out. The words, "I can't believe (fill in the blank)!" are likely to be heard now as you review the events of the last day or so. This evening, a square between the moon in serious Capricorn and Saturn in cerebral Libra provides the reality check as you make the emotional adjustments or accept the responsibilities of new situations entering your life.
