This one of the most sumptuous books I have ever seen on aromatherapy. I don't know how they crammed so many gorgeous illustrations and valuable information into one compact, well-organized volume. A great introduction to the history of aromatherapy and therapeutic applications of aromatherapy for both physical and emotional ailments.

This is an indispensable volume for the at home aromatherapist. It is very informative about the individual oils and gives numerous recipes for preparations. Many common ailments are addressed with practical advice for their natural and holistic treatment. Responsible and thoroughly researched.

THE DIRECTORY OF ESSENTIAL OILS by Wanda Sellar
This is my primary aromatherapy Bible. It is well organized, concise, and informative. A comprehensive, alphabetical list of oils with a surprising amount of information. Properties of every oil are listed in the entries and indexed at the end of the book. Precautions are also noted with each entry. All in all, an indispensible guide.

AROMATHERAPY: An A-Z by Patricia Davis
This is my secondary aromatherapy Bible. This comprehensive alphabetical listing of both oils and ailments is thoroughly researched and well written. Appendixes at the end of book list the precautions and hazards, defines the properties, gives recipes, and more.

SUBTLE AROMATHERAPY by Patricia Davis
This book deals with the more etheric properties of the oils and speaks to the spiritual experience of connecting with plant essences. Davis also explains how the oils relate to the chakra system and how to synergize essential oils and other healing tools such as crystals and flower remedies.

MAGICAL AROMATHERAPY by Scott Cunningham
The beloved wiccan author turns his attention to the magical applications of aromatherapy. To my delight, he clearly delineates the differences between the various types of synthetic oils and true essential oils and responsibly deals with the safety precautions associated with the use of true essentials.
